I brought my 9-year-old pug, Jackie, to Dr. Shashank after a very difficult experience. Around one and a half months ago, Jackie started having urinary dribbling. We initially took him to a nearby pet hospital, where he was treated, and although he seemed better for 4–5 days, the problem kept returning. The treatment continued, but there was no real resolution. That’s when I decided to consult Dr. Shashank, and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I made for Jackie. From the very first consultation, Dr. Shashank made me feel reassured. Unlike our previous experience, he arrived at a diagnosis quickly instead of taking multiple visits to figure out the problem. Jackie had already become a complicated case by the time we reached him, but Dr. Shashank handled everything with great care and confidence. Jackie was even admitted to the hospital for a while, and after that, he started recovering well. Jackie was diagnosed with Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and also has a hernia, which means he will eventually need multiple surgical procedures. What I appreciated most was Dr. Shashank’s honesty and judgment. While other doctors suggested doing multiple surgeries together, he explained that Jackie is an elderly, small dog and that putting him through everything at once would be too much. He chose a step-by-step approach, always keeping Jackie’s well being as the priority rather than recommending unnecessary procedures. We have now completed his neutering surgery, and touch wood, Jackie is recovering very well. Dr. Shashank is one of the most compassionate, gentle, and empathetic veterinarians I have ever met. He explains every detail openly whether it’s about the diagnosis, treatment plan, possible complications, or recovery. Nothing is hidden, and he communicates everything in a calm and reassuring manner, which gives pet parents a great deal of confidence during such stressful times. Finding a veterinarian who combines medical expertise with genuine empathy is rare these days, and I truly feel fortunate to have found Dr. Shashank and the entire Bluecoat Veterinary team. Even though the hospital is about 25–30 minutes from my home, I never hesitate to make the trip because I know Jackie is receiving the best possible care.
