We took our 2-year-old Himalayan cat to Dr. Mishra Vet when he first started feeling low. What followed was weeks of being dismissed, reassured, and told everything was “normal” while our cat was clearly deteriorating. When he ingested threads and couldn’t pass stools, they gave drips and digestive paste but did not run proper diagnostics beyond an X-ray. Later, when he began showing classic signs of urinary obstruction, repeated straining, visible blood, and very little urine, we were again told it was normal. Blood is not normal. Straining is not normal. We raised concerns about jaundice and possible anemia and requested blood tests. They delayed them. They relied only on X-rays and told us there were no stones, but never followed up with an ultrasound or proper urine analysis, even though crystals and sludge do not always show on X-ray. His condition worsened day by day. Eventually he started bleeding heavily from his penis and anus. Only then was a catheter placed, and shockingly, it was done by trainees while the main doctor was unavailable. The catheter was not stitched properly, not positioned correctly, and caused internal injury. Blood was leaking from the side of it instead of draining properly. We were told to put a diaper on him, which clogged it further. We were not properly guided, not warned about risks, and not taken seriously despite daily visits and repeated concerns. When he began losing significant blood and collapsing, we rushed him to emergency elsewhere. There, we were told the catheter had been mishandled and that critical blood tests and escalation should have been done much earlier. Two other independent senior doctors said the same thing. Three different doctors all pointing out delays and poor management is not a coincidence. If proper diagnostics had been done when we asked, if our concerns had been taken seriously, if the case had been referred instead of reassured repeatedly, our cat might still be alive. Allowing trainees to perform invasive procedures on a critical patient without proper supervision and dismissing ongoing bleeding as normal is deeply irresponsible. We trusted them with our pet’s life, and that trust was shattered. Please think very carefully before putting your animal in their care.
