We trusted this clinic with our 2-year-old cat during the most critical time of his life, and today we are left with heartbreak, trauma, and serious doubts about the care he received. Our cat was already battling pleural effusion/FIP-related illness, but after the second drainage procedure done at this clinic, his condition worsened dramatically. Unlike the first drainage done elsewhere after which he breathed better and stabilized this time he developed pneumothorax and his breathing never improved afterward. We were never properly prepared for how unstable his condition had become post-procedure. We also specifically informed the staff that our cat became extremely frightened and aggressive when touched without us present, and requested that he not be unnecessarily handled while we briefly stepped out. Despite that, he was taken out and handled. When we returned, we were met with his lifeless body. Maybe no one can say with certainty what would have changed the outcome. But as pet parents who watched the drastic difference between the first and second procedures, we cannot ignore the feeling that mistakes, inadequate handling, or complications during treatment may have contributed to his final deterioration. Losing a pet is devastating enough. Being left with unanswered questions and guilt afterward makes it even harder. I hope this clinic learns to communicate more transparently, handle critical patients more carefully, and show greater sensitivity toward animals who are already terrified and struggling to survive.
